A 3D render is a photoreal image of your product made from CAD, a sculpt or drawings, before the thing physically exists. Hero shots, every colorway, exploded views, packaging mockups and turntables, all from one model. Once the model is built, a new angle or a new variant costs very little, which is why renders usually work out cheaper than photography for a product line with options. We work in real materials and lighting, so the render looks like the object rather than like a render.
3D Product Render sits under Rich Media, drawing on 3D Rendering.
You need images before production. Preorders, retail listings, buyer meetings, a campaign page, a catalog deadline. Or the product exists and shooting every variant would mean forty photoshoots. If you have one finished product and no variants, photography is probably the better spend.
