Studio and lifestyle product photography for packaging, components and full product lines, shot to every spec a launch needs. On-site, per project, negotiable rate.
Duties & expectations
- Studio product photography of packaging, components and full product lines.
- Build and light sets for tabletop, knolling, flat-lay and hero product shots.
- Light reflective, foiled and transparent surfaces without losing detail.
- Shoot tethered with consistent, repeatable setups across a product line.
- Maintain accurate color so the shot matches the physical product.
- Lifestyle and in-use photography with props, hands and set dressing.
- Shoot to the specs each destination needs, including marketplace white-background requirements.
- Turntable and multi-angle capture for 360 spin viewers.
- Retouch, clean up, composite and batch process for delivery.
- Deliver organized, correctly named files at the resolutions each use requires.
- Handle client product carefully, including prototypes and one-of-a-kind samples.
- Plan shot lists with the team before the shoot so one session serves every use.
- Stay open to feedback and iteration with the creative director and clients.
- Clearly communicate project requirements and progress to project managers.
- Develop repeatable setups and templates to limit redundancy across shoots.
- Time tracking and task management.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of work experience.
- Proficiency with Capture One or Lightroom, shooting tethered.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop for retouching and compositing.
- Strong command of studio strobe and continuous lighting, including modifiers.
- Understanding of color management, profiling and consistent output.
- Experience with macro and detail work on small products.
- Ability to solve lighting problems on set rather than in post.
- Understanding of image requirements for e-commerce and marketplaces.
- Ability to provide insight for time estimates.
- Strong self-management skills with the ability to stay on timelines.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Dropbox and cloud-based file-share systems.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A portfolio showing product work, not just lifestyle or portraiture.
Bonus qualifications
- Food and beverage photography and styling.
- Motion control, slider or robotic camera systems.
- Turntable rigs and 360 spin capture.
- Video capture on set, including behind the scenes.
- Focus stacking and high-magnification work.
- Compositing product photography with 3D renders.
- Amazon A+ and enhanced listing image specifications.
- Prop sourcing, set building and surface styling.
- Retouching automation, actions and batch workflows.
- Claude AI or similar AI tools for production workflows.
- Chat systems like Slack.
- Access to your own studio space, lighting or specialty gear.
- Familiarity with tabletop games, toys, publishing or consumer packaged goods.
- High-performance, macOS-compatible hardware is a plus.
