What is 3D Animation?
3D animation is motion built in a 3D environment rather than captured. Product assembling itself, a character moving, a camera flying through a world that was never real. It is how you show the inside of a thing, the impossible angle, or the version that has not been manufactured yet. We model, rig, light, animate and render in house, which means changes happen in hours rather than in a new quote from a third party.
3D Animation is one of the disciplines under Rich Media.
Who needs 3D Animation?
You need to show something a camera cannot reach: the inside of a box, a product that is still in tooling, a character that only exists in artwork. Or you need a shot that would cost more to stage than to build. Worth knowing up front that 3D is front-loaded work. The first shot is expensive and the tenth is cheap, which makes it a better fit for campaigns than for one-offs.
